Why Dual Enroll in the ��̳?

Are you a junior or senior in high school on track to graduate and looking to get a head start on college? The ��̳ and the ��̳ North Star Borough School District (FNSBSD) offer a dual enrollment program for students like you to get a taste of the college experience while finishing up high school.

As a student dual-enrolled in North Star College, you’ll have the support of a dedicated team of advisors, faculty mentors and peers. Each semester, you’ll take a one-credit support class to learn about skills and strategies for success in college courses. By the time you graduate from North Star College, you’ll have the confidence and credits to enter college prepared to succeed.

When you join the ��̳ through North Star College, you’ll not only earn college credits while completing high school, but also save money on those credits. The school district will pay for your tuition, books and most fees. This can save you and your family hundreds if not thousands of dollars on a college degree.

Take actual college courses

Whereas many other college-prep programs have specialized courses for high school students, the ��̳ will allow you to take college-level courses taught by our experienced faculty.

Each student takes a minimum of seven college credits, and can take up to 15 per semester. This means that you can possibly enter college as a sophomore or even a junior — saving yourself time and money. This also means that you’ll have many opportunities to try out some of the many that you can pursue after graduation.

College is so much more than the classroom. When you join the University of Alaska ��̳ through North Star College, you’ll attend classes on campus, giving you unique chances to see what college life is like. North Star College has its own dedicated space on campus for North Star College students.

With a parent’s consent, you can attend UAF academic, community and athletics events. You can also participate in sports, student-run clubs and student organizations. As a member of the ��̳, you can qualify for many to earn extra money and gain experience that can fill out your resume before graduation.
