Zoom to Kaltura Backup update
Aug. 18, 2025
UA Kaltura Admins updated the Zoom integration settings in Kaltura to allow Zoom meeting Alternative Hosts to be given Co-Editor and Co-Publisher permissions automatically upon Zoom recording import. This change took place on Aug. 17. Please note that Zoom to Kaltura Backup is not currently available to UAS Zoom Users.
What does this mean, and why does it matter?
Currently, when you鈥檙e the Host of a Zoom meeting in your UA Zoom account, any cloud recordings you make are automatically backed up to your Kaltura account for you to view, edit, publish, and share with others. With this update, Alternative Hosts will now also be able to view, edit, and publish Zoom meeting recordings in Kaltura (MediaSpace, or an LMS such as Blackboard or Canvas). UA Zoom users can set Alternative Hosts for meetings that they host. Alternative Hosts can serve as Host if the owner isn鈥檛 present; otherwise, they will be a Co-Host in the meeting. Alternative Hosts can be co-workers, co-instructors, or other collaborative partners. Please note, this change only pertains to Alternative Host roles and is not available to users who are set as a Co-Host during a meeting. Kaltura users are still able to change viewing, editing, and publishing capabilities for their own media, just as before. This is a highly requested feature that we are excited to be able to implement, and which we believe will streamline media recording and collaboration across UA.
